چکیده

We describe a method of determining the distribution function associated with acceptors partaking in Forster resonance ̈ Ž . energy transfer FRET from excited donors. Unlike previous approaches to this problem the method described makes no a priori assumption about the nature of the distribution. The use of an acceptor distribution function in analyte sensing is demonstrated for the first time. In the case of glucose sensing via FRET from Concanavalin A labelled with allophycocyanin to malachite green labelled dextran, the change in the acceptor distribution is shown to be a more sensitive sensing parameter than either the mean fluorescence lifetime or Forster g value. q 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Dynamics of Forster Energy Migration Across Polymer Chains in Solution

Long distance excitation energy transfer between a donor and an acceptor embedded in a polymer chain is usually assumed to occur via the Forster mechanism which predicts a R distance dependence of the transfer rate, where R is the distance between the donor and the acceptor. In solution R fluctuates with time. In this work, a Brownian dynamics simulation of a polymer chain with Forster energy t...

Additional correction for energy transfer efficiency calculation in filter-based Forster resonance energy transfer microscopy for more accurate results.

Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) microscopy is commonly used to monitor protein interactions with filter-based imaging systems, which require spectral bleedthrough (or cross talk) correction to accurately measure energy transfer efficiency (E). The double-label (donor+acceptor) specimen is excited with the donor wavelength, the acceptor emission provided the uncorrected FRET signal and ...

Polyproline and the "spectroscopic ruler" revisited with single-molecule fluorescence.

To determine whether Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) measurements can provide quantitative distance information in single-molecule fluorescence experiments on polypeptides, we measured FRET efficiency distributions for donor and acceptor dyes attached to the ends of freely diffusing polyproline molecules of various lengths. The observed mean FRET efficiencies agree with those determine...

Stern-Volmer modeling of steady-state Forster energy transfer between dilute, freely diffusing membrane-bound fluorophores.

Two different metrics are used to assess Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) between fluorophores in the steady state: (i) acceptor-quenching of donor fluorescence E (also known as transfer efficiency) and (ii) donor-excited acceptor fluorescence F(A) (Dex). While E is still more widely used, F(A) (Dex) has been gaining in popularity for practical reasons among experimentalists who study b...

Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Studies of the Effects of π-donor Ligand and B18N18 Nanoring Field on Energy Gaps

To investigation non-bonded interaction of the [CuF4]2- complex inside nanoring, we focus on the single wall boron-nitride B18N18 nanoring. Thus, the geometry of B18N18 nanoring has been optimized by B3LYP method with EPR-II basis set and geometry of the [CuF4]2- complex has been optimized at B3LYP method with Def2-TZVP basis set and Stuttgart RSC 1997 Effective Core Potential. Also electronic ...
